General category groups demand UGC decision rollback at Firozabad meeting

A large meeting was held on Sunday at the Vankhandeshwar temple complex in Narhi, Firozabad, to discuss provisions related to the UGC amid growing anger among general category members. People from the community expressed their displeasure over the UGC decision and demanded that the central government roll it back immediately. Speakers said that if the government does not seriously consider the demand, the agitation will be intensified further.

Thakur Prince Jadaun, spokesperson of Lokhit Sangharsh Morcha, said that people of the community will have to unite and raise their voice democratically for their rights. He called for maximum participation in the proposed UGC protest march in Tundla on 13 September.

Advocate Sanjay Kumar Jadaun said that the government should not ignore the concerns of the general category. He said the situation regarding UGC provisions should be clarified, and if the rights of any section are being affected, the government should immediately reconsider. He said that if the demands are ignored, the community will take the agitation forward in a peaceful and democratic manner. A strategy was drawn up at the meeting to contact villages and connect people with the protest march.
