Food safety officials destroy 350kg of substandard paneer in Gautam Buddh Nagar

Food safety authorities in Gautam Buddh Nagar have destroyed 350 kilograms of substandard paneer ahead of the Raksha Bandhan festival, acting on directions from the Food Safety and Drug Administration Commissioner in Lucknow and the District Magistrate to ensure the availability of pure food products to residents during the festive season.

A team led by Chief Food Safety Officer Virendra Dwivedi, along with Food Safety Officers Mukesh Kumar and Amar Bahadur Saroj, intercepted a vehicle carrying the paneer on the night of August 21-22, 2026, at Lakhnawali in Greater Noida. The paneer, sourced from Surendra's Dairy in Mahgora, Aligarh, was being transported in vehicle number UP 85 GT 2219 for supply to Delhi and other NCR districts.

Upon inspection, the paneer appeared prima facie adulterated and unfit for human consumption. The team seized approximately 350 kilograms of the product and stored it securely at Siddh Baba Dairy in Lakhnawali, Greater Noida. One sample was sent to the laboratory for detailed testing. On the morning of August 22, the entire seized quantity was destroyed with the cooperation of the Greater Noida Authority.

Assistant Commissioner Food (Second) Sarvesh Mishra stated that the department is conducting intensive inspection campaigns to collect samples and ensure the availability of quality milk and dairy products to the public. He emphasized that such inspection drives will continue to guarantee that residents receive pure food and beverages conforming to prescribed standards during the festive period and beyond.

The action is part of a broader campaign by the Food Safety and Drug Administration Department to protect consumer health and maintain food quality standards across the district.
