District Magistrate conducts surprise property verification to curb fraudulent land deals

District Magistrate Annapurna Garg conducted a surprise physical verification of high-value property transactions in Shravasti district on Tuesday evening, inspecting land deals registered in the Bhinga and Ikauna tehsil areas. The initiative is part of a broader effort to prevent fraudulent transactions and ensure transparency in revenue operations across the district.

During the inspection, Garg personally visited properties in Mauza Bhinga Dehat under Bhinga tehsil, where a transaction involving buyer Rewa Srivastava was registered, and Mauza Bagwani under Ikauna tehsil, where property was purchased by Suman Devi. The District Magistrate cross-verified the registered documents from the Sub-Registrar's office with the actual land on site, examining revenue records including khasra-khatauni and boundary details to ensure accuracy.

At each location, Garg inspected the nature of the land, verified possession by the owner, and assessed the surrounding conditions. She also interviewed the parties involved in the transactions to gather information about the sale and purchase of the properties. The on-site verification aimed to detect any discrepancies between documented details and ground realities that might indicate irregularities or undervaluation.

The District Magistrate issued clear directions to the Sub-Registrar and revenue officials, mandating physical verification of all high-value property registrations either before or immediately after the transaction is recorded. She warned that strict legal and administrative action would be taken against anyone found involved in irregularities related to stamp duty collection or property valuation.

The inspection was attended by Additional District Magistrate Ikauna Ravendra Kumar, Sub-Registrar Bhinga Priya, along with tehsildars, lekhpals, revenue inspectors, and other district officials. This proactive measure reflects the administration's commitment to curbing land fraud and protecting revenue interests in the district.
