Delhi Police bust ₹75 lakh hostage robbery in 48 hours, arrest ex-employee mastermind

Delhi Police have cracked a sensational daylight robbery case in Ashok Vihar within 48 hours, arresting the mastermind along with seven accomplices who looted approximately ₹75 lakh from a 54-year-old woman after holding her hostage in her own home. The shocking twist: the mastermind was a former employee of the victim's husband who had inside knowledge of the family's finances and daily routine.

A joint team from the North West District Special Staff and Ashok Vihar police station conducted raids spanning from Delhi to Amritsar, Punjab, to nab the culprits. Police have so far recovered ₹51.52 lakh in cash along with three expensive mobile phones purchased with the stolen money. The arrested group includes six adults and two juveniles in conflict with law.

Investigations revealed the former employee had meticulously planned the heist over a month-long surveillance period. Familiar with the household's activities and aware of the cash kept inside, the accused waited for the right moment to strike. On the day of the robbery, the gang gained entry by asking for water. Once inside, they overpowered the woman, tied her hands and feet with brown tape, and fled with the cash, which included money saved for the victim's daughters' weddings besides business transaction funds.

After executing the robbery, the criminals gathered at Dilshad Garden to divide the loot before scattering. Police tracked them using technical surveillance, CCTV footage, and other intelligence inputs. The swift action demonstrated the effectiveness of coordinated police work across multiple locations.

Authorities are now investigating where the remaining amount has gone and whether any other individuals were involved in planning this audacious crime. The case has once again highlighted that despite meticulous planning, criminals cannot evade determined police investigation backed by modern technology and inter-city coordination.
