Hamirpur trader attacked by youths in robbery bid, fires shots in self-defense

A trader in Hamirpur has alleged that he was attacked and an attempt was made to rob him, prompting the local trade body to approach police authorities demanding action.

The Nagar Udyog Vyapar Mandal submitted a complaint letter to the Superintendent of Police seeking strict action in the matter.

According to the trade body, the incident took place around 11 pm on the night of 7 September when trader Shashikant Tiwari was allegedly attacked by some youths who attempted to snatch his belongings and assault him.

The complaint alleges that the youths threatened the trader and demanded money from him.

The trade body has demanded stern action against the accused and measures to prevent recurrence of such incidents in future.

Meanwhile, a gunfire incident has also come to light in connection with the same case, in which the trader reportedly fired several rounds from a licensed weapon at the youths.

Police are investigating the matter.
