Five family members get life sentence in nine-year-old murder and robbery case

A court in Amethi has sentenced five members of a single family to life imprisonment in a nine-year-old murder and robbery case, also imposing a fine of one and a half lakh rupees on them.

The verdict, delivered after nine years, has caused turmoil in the family of the convicts. The case was registered following accusations that the accused had murdered a woman and her son in their village and robbed them nine years ago. The incident had taken place in the Mohanganj police station area.

The court handed down life sentences to all five accused after police investigation and rigorous prosecution efforts secured the conviction. Along with the life imprisonment, the court also imposed a financial penalty of one lakh fifty thousand rupees on the convicts.

The Amethi Superintendent of Police has commended the team involved in the investigation and prosecution of the case for their work in bringing the accused to justice after nearly a decade.
