Bohra community in Ujjain voluntarily dismantles 200-year-old mosque for Simhasth road project

The Bohra community in Ujjain has set a significant example during preparations for the Simhasth-2028 pilgrimage by voluntarily dismantling a portion of their 200-year-old Husami Mosque to facilitate a road-widening project. The community acted on the directive of Syedna Sahab, their spiritual leader, who instructed them to cooperate with the government.

The demolition work began on Friday evening around 6 pm at Chhatri Chowk, where the historic Husami Mosque stands opposite the Gopal Mandir. Members of the Bohra community themselves took up hammers and began removing the designated section of the mosque structure. The road-widening effort is part of the ongoing Simhasth-2028 preparations, stretching from Kanthal to Gopal Mandir in Ujjain.

The community emphasized that their spiritual leader, Syedna Sahab, had issued clear instructions to extend full cooperation to the government in this matter. Following an official notice, the demolition is being carried out with mutual consent between the authorities and the community.

The work was halted as evening fell on Friday, and the demolition activity is scheduled to resume the following day. The voluntary participation of community members in dismantling their own centuries-old religious structure has drawn attention as a noteworthy gesture during the city's infrastructure development for the upcoming religious event.
