Bihar Completes Life Verification For 1.03 Crore Beneficiaries, 13.57 Lakh Pending

Life verification has been completed for 1,03,13,620 of Bihar’s 1,16,71,188 beneficiaries under social security pension schemes, while verification for 13,57,568 beneficiaries remains pending, according to Department of Social Welfare data.

The completed verification covers 88.37% of the total beneficiaries. The process is being carried out to support the regular disbursement of pensions and maintain transparency in the distribution system.

Madhubani records the highest completed verifications

Madhubani has recorded the highest number of completed life verifications among Bihar’s districts, with 5,09,290 pensioners verified.

Patna follows with 4,91,125 completed verifications, while East Champaran has verified 4,85,930 beneficiaries. Muzaffarpur has completed verification for 4,62,294 beneficiaries and Samastipur for 4,35,744.

The department has urged beneficiaries whose verification is pending to complete the process at the earliest. It has also appealed to all remaining beneficiaries to complete life verification according to the prescribed procedure.

Annual life certificate required by November 30

Pensioners must submit an annual life certificate by November 30 each year to prevent pension payments from being suspended. The department said the remaining records should be verified within the stipulated time so that all eligible pensioners can be covered.

Patna has the highest total number of beneficiaries enrolled under the social security pension schemes, with 6,17,153 pensioners. Madhubani has 5,88,855 beneficiaries, followed by East Champaran with 5,66,316, Muzaffarpur with 5,20,559 and Gaya with 5,07,191.

The difference between total enrolment and completed verification shows that district rankings for enrolment and completed verification are based on separate figures. Patna leads in total enrolled beneficiaries, while Madhubani leads in the number of beneficiaries whose life verification has been completed.

“The State government is committed to providing financial support to senior citizens, widowed women and persons with disabilities through social security pension schemes. Completing the life verification process is essential to verify beneficiary records and maintain transparency in the pension distribution system,” Social Welfare Department Minister Dr. Shweta Gupta told the media on Wednesday (October 21, 2026).

“Beneficiaries whose life verification is still pending should complete their verification as soon as possible in accordance with the prescribed procedure,” she said. “The department is making every effort to ensure that no eligible beneficiary is left out of this process due to a lack of necessary information.”
