Bihar Attracts 1,091 Investment Proposals Worth ₹1.21 Lakh Crore Since 2025
Bihar reports 1,091 investment proposals worth Rs 1.21 lakh crore since 2025, with 68,807 jobs projected as Gaya manufacturing city moves toward launch.
Bihar has scheduled the inauguration of the Bihar Integrated Manufacturing City Gaya Limited (BIMCGL) along with the launch of its web portal, after which the process of land allotment will begin, Industries Minister Shreyasi Singh said.
The project is scheduled to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on October 24, 2026, in the Dobhi area near Bodh Gaya, according to Singh.
The announcement comes as the State reports that it has attracted 1,091 investment proposals worth ₹1,21,863 crore since 2025.
Singh said the proposals have the potential to generate more than 68,807 employment opportunities in Bihar.
She described Bihar as an “important investment destination” and said the State’s industrial development was moving at a rapid pace under Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary’s visionary leadership.
Manufacturing city planned in Gaya
BIMCGL is being developed across approximately 1,670 acres in Gaya ji, and the work on the project is progressing rapidly, Singh said.
She said the project could promote large-scale manufacturing activities, attract industrial investment and generate new employment opportunities.
The web portal launch is linked to the next stage of the project, with land allotment set to begin after the inauguration, according to the minister.
Singh said Bihar was among the leading States working rapidly to implement integrated manufacturing cities on the ground.
She made the comparison with other States in India where integrated manufacturing cities of this kind are being developed at 14 locations.
Industries Department Secretary Kundan Kumar said BIMCGL would be Bihar’s first industrial manufacturing city equipped with all the ultra-modern facilities required for manufacturing.
Kumar said the model marked a shift from the concept of an industrial area to that of an industrial city.
He said the planned city would include various amenities, recreational and sports facilities, along with the infrastructure required for industrial activity.
The project would also include pollution-control systems intended to keep the industrial park environmentally clean, Kumar said.
These facilities will include a Common Effluent Treatment Plant, or CETP, while an Integrated Control and Command Centre will also be established there.
Focus on investment from Southeast Asia
The State government is looking to attract investment from countries in ASEAN and other Southeast Asian countries, Kumar said.
He linked the investment focus to the presence of Gaya ji and Bodh Gaya, which he described as important centres for Buddhism.
Kumar also said that a large number of people and tourists visit both places.
The location and the proposed facilities are therefore part of the State’s effort to position BIMCGL as a manufacturing centre with wider investment potential, based on the factors cited by the Industries Department.
Singh attributed the flow of investment proposals to the government’s emphasis on infrastructure development, a conducive environment, essential facilities and investor-friendly policies.
More industrial land being prepared
The government is also working to expand the land available for industrial activity in Bihar.
Singh said work was underway to make more than 14,600 acres of new industrial land available to entrepreneurs.
She said the land acquisition process was being advanced for new industrial areas at 28 locations across 25 districts of the State.
The expansion is intended to strengthen land availability for large- and medium-scale industrial projects in Bihar.
The Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority has allotted 727.02 acres of land to 521 units from the beginning of the financial year 2025-26 to till date, Singh said.
These projects envisage an investment of ₹18,380.25 crore and the creation of 49,167 employment opportunities.
Bihar has also developed a network of 94 industrial areas, according to the Industries Department.
The State has undertaken initiatives to promote advanced technology-based industries through the Bihar Semiconductor Policy 2026.
Assistance under entrepreneur scheme
The government also provided details of assistance extended under the Chief Minister’s Entrepreneur Scheme, or Mukhya Mantri Udyami Yojana.
A total of 47,075 beneficiaries have received assistance through six sub-schemes under the programme.
More than ₹3,414 crore has been disbursed under the scheme, according to the State government.
