Bahraich traffic police issue 610 challans, collect Rs 8.39 lakh in safety drive

Bahraich Traffic Police have launched an intensive road safety and traffic management campaign, issuing 610 challans and collecting fines totaling Rs 8,38,900 during the drive. The enforcement action covered buses, four-wheelers, three-wheelers, and two-wheelers, with police conducting thorough checks across the district.

The campaign, carried out jointly by traffic police and civic police personnel, resulted in the seizure of six vehicles for serious violations. A significant portion of the enforcement targeted dangerous practices, with 104 challans issued against drivers found speeding and 47 cases booked for carrying three passengers on two-wheelers, a common but risky practice that violates traffic norms.

The drive also focused on maintaining highway safety and smooth traffic flow. Police removed vehicles found parked illegally on highways and initiated legal proceedings against their drivers under the Motor Vehicles Act. The comprehensive checking drive aimed to ensure compliance with safety regulations across all categories of vehicles plying on Bahraich roads.

The traffic police emphasized that such enforcement campaigns are essential to reduce road accidents and promote responsible driving behavior. By targeting multiple violations simultaneously, from speeding to overloading two-wheelers, authorities hope to create a deterrent effect and improve overall road discipline.
