Bahraich traffic police issue 602 challans, collect Rs 8.12 lakh in fines

Bahraich traffic police conducted an intensive road safety and traffic management campaign, issuing a total of 602 challans and imposing fines worth Rs 8,12,800. The drive targeted multiple violations as authorities stepped up enforcement to improve compliance with traffic regulations in the district.

During the campaign, 109 challans were issued specifically for over-speeding, making it the most common violation detected by the traffic police. Another 37 two-wheeler riders were penalized for carrying three passengers, a practice that not only violates traffic norms but also poses serious safety risks. The police also took action against two four-wheelers found operating with illegal black film on their windows, removing the tinted film and prosecuting the vehicle owners under the Motor Vehicles Act.

In addition to issuing fines, the traffic police seized four vehicles during the operation. The crackdown reflects the department's commitment to enforcing traffic laws more strictly and deterring repeat offenders through visible action on the streets.

Beyond punitive measures, the traffic police also emphasized awareness and education. Officers counseled vehicle drivers on the importance of following traffic rules, adhering to prescribed speed limits, and avoiding the unsafe practice of overloading two-wheelers with three riders. The initiative is part of a broader effort to reduce accidents and improve overall road safety in Bahraich.

The campaign underscores the dual approach adopted by the traffic department—enforcement coupled with public education—to create safer roads. With over 600 violations detected in a single drive, authorities have signaled their intent to maintain sustained vigilance and ensure that traffic norms are respected across the district.
