Bahraich traffic police issue 435 challans in road safety drive

Bahraich traffic police launched an intensive road safety and traffic management drive, penalising hundreds of motorists for violations and taking strict action to ensure safer roads. The campaign resulted in challans issued to 435 vehicles with a total fine amount of Rs 5,09,700 collected from violators across the district.

As part of the enforcement action, traffic personnel seized three vehicles whose drivers or owners had committed serious breaches of traffic regulations. The police also cracked down on vehicles parked illegally on highways, removing them from the roadside and initiating legal proceedings against the offenders. Such improper parking often poses significant hazards to other road users, particularly on busy national and state highways passing through the region.

The drive was conducted under the Mission Safe Future campaign, which aims to reduce road accidents and improve compliance with traffic laws. Police teams carried out intensive vehicle checks at multiple points throughout Bahraich district, scrutinising documents, safety equipment, and adherence to speed limits and other road safety norms. The mission reflects a broader push by Uttar Pradesh police to create safer road conditions through a combination of awareness, enforcement, and deterrence.

Traffic officials emphasised that such campaigns will continue regularly to instil discipline among motorists and curb dangerous driving practices. The fines collected serve both as a penalty and a deterrent, while vehicle seizures target repeat or serious offenders. Bahraich police have urged all vehicle owners and drivers to comply with traffic regulations, carry proper documentation, and prioritise road safety to prevent accidents and loss of life. The department has also called on citizens to cooperate with ongoing enforcement efforts aimed at protecting lives on the district's roads.
