Anti-encroachment drive clears way for Vindhya Corridor development

Mirzapur: In a significant move towards the development of the proposed Vindhya Corridor, district authorities in Vindhyachal carried out an anti-encroachment drive on Thursday. Led by City Magistrate Avinash Kumar, the administrative team used bulldozers to clear unauthorized constructions on land already acquired for the corridor project. This action has paved the way for the corridor’s planned development work, which aims to enhance the area’s aesthetics and improve facilities for devotees.

One of the key features of the project includes the construction of a grand entrance gate at Bartar Tiraha, which is expected to add to the beauty of Vindhyachal Dham while making the pilgrimage experience more convenient. Speaking about the drive, City Magistrate Avinash Kumar revealed that certain portions of land belonging to the tourism department had also been encroached upon. Notices have been issued to the occupants, giving them four days to vacate the premises. If the encroachments are not removed within the stipulated time, further action will be taken as per the rules.

The administration has emphasized that the anti-encroachment campaign in Vindhyachal will continue, with priority given to freeing up land acquired for the corridor. The Vindhya Corridor project is seen as a major initiative to boost tourism and improve infrastructure in the region, which is a popular religious destination.

The move is expected to benefit thousands of devotees visiting Vindhyachal Dham annually, while also contributing to the overall development of Mirzapur district. Authorities have assured that all necessary steps will be taken to ensure the smooth progress of the corridor project.
