Air Force Sergeant Jitendra Sharma Dies in Assam Plane Crash

Sergeant Jitendra Sharma, a resident of Salpur village in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, died in an Indian Air Force plane crash in Assam. The incident occurred on Saturday morning when an AN-32 transport aircraft crashed during landing, claiming the lives of Jitendra and four others. His mortal remains are expected to arrive in his village by 2 PM on Monday.

Jitendra's mother, Rajeshwari Devi, aged 72, remains unaware of her son's death due to her heart condition. She is being kept at home under care, while his siblings are staying at their uncle's house. The family is in deep grief, and the village is paying tribute to the martyr with banners and slogans honoring his sacrifice.

Jitendra Sharma was the youngest of seven siblings. He joined the Indian Air Force on January 1, 2015, after completing his education at DRG Inter College in Dhaniapura Kurana. He had recently visited his village on leave and returned to duty on June 5. The family was in the process of arranging his marriage, but the tragic accident cut his life short.

Jitendra's father, Karua Sharma, passed away 12 years ago, after which his mother raised the family. CO Khair Sanjeev Kumar Tomar informed the family that Jitendra's coffin would not be opened.
