AIMIM leaders booked after unauthorised roadshow paralyses Shravasti city

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leaders, including the party's state president, have been booked by police in Shravasti following an unauthorised show of strength that brought parts of the city to a standstill.

An FIR has been registered against seven named individuals, including AIMIM state president Haji Shaukat Ali and former candidate Haji Daddan Khan, who had recently joined the party. Alongside the named accused, 50 to 60 unidentified persons have also been included in the case.

The police have invoked sections 125, 189(2) and 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the accused. The charges include holding a roadshow without prior permission, creating a ruckus and causing traffic jams.

The trouble began when the convoy was stopped at Bhinga, leading to a sharp altercation with the police. The city remained blocked for hours before DSP Bhinga Bharat Paswan intervened and brought the situation under control.

Adding to the party's embarrassment, dozens of vehicles that were part of the convoy received online challans. As penalty notifications began arriving on workers' mobile phones, panic spread through the AIMIM camp.

Haji Daddan Khan, who was expelled from the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), had joined AIMIM and wanted to demonstrate his clout. However, the planned show of strength backfired spectacularly. What was meant to be a grand welcome ended with a visit to the police station instead, and the opposition is now taking digs at the party over the incident.
