Advocates accused of vandalizing court library cabins face Bar Association inquiry

A controversy has erupted at the temporary library hall of the Surajpur Civil and Criminal Court in Greater Noida over cabins being constructed for advocates, with the Gautam Buddh Nagar Bar Association taking a strong stand on the vandalism incident during its general body meeting.

According to a press release issued by the Bar Association, approximately 30 to 35 advocates have been accused of vandalising and damaging the cabins that were being built inside the library hall at the Surajpur Court. The incident prompted the Bar Association to convene a general body meeting on 15 September to address the matter.

During the general body meeting, members unanimously passed a condemnation resolution denouncing the conduct and actions of the advocates involved in the vandalism. The resolution strongly criticised the behaviour of those who participated in damaging the cabins.

The general body also decided to constitute a disciplinary committee that will determine the eligibility of the advocates involved in the vandalism to contest in the upcoming Bar elections. This committee will review their conduct and decide whether they should be allowed to file nominations.

Additionally, the Bar Association announced that an assessment of the damage caused by the vandalism in the library hall will be conducted, and decisions regarding compensation for the losses will be taken accordingly.

Meanwhile, peace and order have been restored in the court premises following the incident.
