ADG S.K. Bhagat reviews security for Kanwar Yatra in Firozabad

In a high-level inspection aimed at ensuring the smooth conduct of the ongoing Kanwar Yatra, Agra Zone Additional Director General (ADG) of Police S.K. Bhagat visited Firozabad on Tuesday. Accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and other officials, Bhagat assessed the security measures along the pilgrimage route, focusing on traffic management, barricading, cleanliness, and facilities for devotees.

During the review, special attention was given to sensitive areas, with Bhagat instructing officials to maintain heightened vigilance. He emphasized that devotees should face no inconvenience during the yatra and directed the police to remain on alert mode to uphold law and order. "The Kanwar Yatra must be peaceful and safe for all. Ensure that no disruptions occur," Bhagat reportedly said.

The inspection also saw the participation of SSP, SP City, and other police and administrative officers, reflecting the seriousness with which authorities are approaching the event. The Kanwar Yatra, an annual pilgrimage undertaken by Lord Shiva devotees, sees thousands of participants walking or driving through various cities, often creating challenges for local administrations in managing crowds and traffic.

This year, the government has ramped up preparations to ensure the yatra proceeds without incidents, especially in light of past instances of communal tensions during the event. The ADG's visit underscores the importance of coordination between police and administrative teams in maintaining order and providing a safe environment for devotees.

With instructions now issued for enhanced vigilance and smooth arrangements, officials are hopeful that the Kanwar Yatra will conclude peacefully, marking yet another successful chapter in the region's management of large-scale religious events.
