10-year-old student killed in hit-and-run accident in Uttar Pradesh village

A 10-year-old student was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Shravasti district's Bhinga police station area. The boy was struck by a speeding pickup vehicle after stepping out of his primary school during the lunch break.

Gulfam, son of Saleem and a resident of village Akbarpur in Bhinga, was a Class 5 student at Primary School Akbarpur. He had come out of the school premises during the midday break when a speeding pickup coming from inside the village hit him. He was seriously injured in the accident.

After the incident, family members rushed him to Bhinga district hospital, where doctors declared him dead after examination. News of the student's death sent shockwaves through the family, while a wave of grief swept through the village and the school.

According to eyewitnesses, the pickup that caused the accident was loaded with cattle. After the accident, the driver fled from the spot along with the vehicle. Villagers said that the incident may have been captured on CCTV cameras installed at the house of Vivek Mishra, located near the school. Police are examining the camera footage to identify the absconding vehicle and driver.

The deceased Gulfam's family is extremely weak financially. His father Saleem works as a labourer in Mumbai to support the family. Gulfam was the youngest among two brothers and two sisters.
