Manas Yagyasaini was riding his scooter on the left side of Huzurpur Road under Kotwali Dehat police station limits in Bahraich district late at night on 29 July when a four-wheeler moved onto the same side and ran over him. The vehicle then dragged him for 100 meters. The young confectioner died in the incident.
No serious case has been registered against the driver. CCTV footage that emerged after the accident clearly shows that the vehicle driver crushed Yagyasaini by driving on the wrong side of the road, but lax enforcement has left the victim's family without justice, according to those protesting.
