UP to develop 500-acre Japanese City as Japan Inc deepens investment ties

Uttar Pradesh hosted the UP-Japan Investment Summit 2026 at Taj Palace in New Delhi on August 19, 2026, drawing over 200 Japanese business leaders including CEOs, managing directors, country heads, and senior industry representatives. The summit aimed to strengthen economic, industrial, and technological cooperation between Uttar Pradesh and Japan, showcasing the state as a prime investment destination with world-class infrastructure and investor-friendly policies.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath headlined the event alongside Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Railways and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, and UP Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna. The Chief Minister highlighted the state's transformation through expressways, airports, dedicated freight corridors, industrial parks, and multi-modal connectivity networks. He announced the development of a "Japanese City" spanning approximately 500 acres in Sector-5A of the Yamuna Authority (YEIDA) area, designed as a dedicated industrial, commercial, and residential ecosystem for Japanese industries, businesses, and citizens.

The summit featured virtual ground-breaking ceremonies for two major industrial projects in the Yamuna Authority region. Escorts Kubota Limited will establish a manufacturing unit on 154 acres in Sector-10 with an investment of approximately Rs 2,029 crore, creating around 4,000 jobs and producing 60,000 tractors annually along with agricultural machinery components. The Spark Minda Group will invest around Rs 1,166 crore across Sector-10 and Sector-24, generating 6,440 employment opportunities and manufacturing 20 lakh units annually of electronic switches, sensors, USB chargers, and other automotive electronic products.

Chief Minister Adityanath emphasized that the state government is particularly encouraging Japanese investment in green hydrogen, solar energy, electronics, medical devices, automobiles, semiconductors, and advanced manufacturing sectors. He assured investors of world-class infrastructure, skilled human resources, and a fast-track approval system. The summit reinforced Uttar Pradesh's position as a leading hub for global manufacturing and industrial investment, energizing India-Japan industrial collaboration.
