A fortnight-long series of memorial events honouring the late Ajit Singh, popular leader and former member of the Legislative Council, will be held in Unnao from his birth anniversary on 23 August to his 22nd death anniversary on 5 September. The programmes will include a marathon run, condolence meetings, blood donation camps, health camps, and assistance for the needy. The announcement was made by his son and BJP leader Shashank Shekhar Singh 'Sunny' during a press conference.

The events will kick off on 23 August with a four-kilometre marathon run starting from Gandhi Nagar crossing. Cash prizes will be awarded to winners, with the first-place finisher receiving Rs 21,000, the second-place runner getting Rs 11,000, and the third-place participant taking home Rs 5,100. Organisers said the marathon aims to inspire young people towards healthy living, discipline, and positive thinking.

On 5 September, marking the 22nd death anniversary of late Ajit Singh, a condolence meeting and service programme will be organised at Annapurna Inter College from 11 am to 5 pm. The day will begin with a Sunderkand recitation at 9 am. During the event, tricycles will be distributed to differently-abled persons, scholarships will be given to extremely poor students, and fruits will be handed out to patients at the district hospital. A blood donation and health camp will also be set up.

Shashank Shekhar Singh 'Sunny' said that keeping his father's memory alive through service activities, rather than limiting it to mere tributes, is the family's resolve. He appealed to the general public, youth, social organisations, and public representatives to participate actively in the programmes. The series of events reflects an effort to translate remembrance into tangible community welfare.
