Development work is underway in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain in preparation for Simhastha 2028.
Development work is underway in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain in preparation for Simhastha 2028. At the same time, the Municipal Corporation’s drive to remove encroachments from land reserved for Simhastha is continuing. The civic administration has been using bulldozers to act against illegal hotels, shops and other constructions built on the land.
On Sunday, at around 5 am, the Municipal Corporation team reached the Jaisinghpura area near Narsingh Ghat. It took action against illegal construction at Mahasiddh Ashram, MS Sukrit Trust. With the help of three Pokland machines, the team demolished parts of a newly constructed building.
The demolition was temporarily stopped after the team gave time to remove the goods kept inside the building. The team then returned temporarily, with further action linked to the illegal construction still part of the civic campaign.
A separate account of the same action said that the Municipal Corporation team reached the spot with four Poklen machines and one JCB. It said the illegal construction at M S Sukrit Trust Maha Siddhi Ashram, located in the Simhastha area near Narsingh Ghat, was removed on Sunday morning.
The ashram had reportedly been served two notices by the Municipal Corporation. However, the illegal construction and encroachment had not been removed even after the notices. According to a civic official, a petition had been filed in the High Court regarding illegal construction on Simhastha land. After hearing the matter, the court directed the Municipal Corporation to remove the illegal construction.
Earlier, action had also been taken against a building at the ashram of Mahamandaleshwar Jyoti Giri Ji Maharaj, associated with the Juna Akhara’s Haryana Seva Ashram. The G plus 3 hotel-like building constructed at the ashram was demolished following directions from the High Court.
The Municipal Corporation had carried out this action against illegal construction on Simhastha land in Ujjain on Friday morning. The building was described as a four-storey hotel-like structure. It was reportedly constructed at the ashram, and the corporation had issued two notices for its removal. When the construction was not removed, the team began the demolition process with the help of machines.
The Municipal Corporation team had also taken action earlier against two ashrams. The latest operations are part of the continuing campaign to free Simhastha-area land from encroachments.
Municipal Corporation Building Officer Rajkumar Rathore said that three separate permanent buildings had recently been constructed inside the ashram complex on land reserved for Simhastha. He said the ashram operator had already been issued two notices to remove the illegal construction.
According to Rathore, the construction was not removed within the prescribed time limit. Following this, the demolition action was carried out on Sunday morning. The civic administration’s action comes as development work for Simhastha 2028 continues across Ujjain and the authorities proceed with removing constructions from the land identified for the event.
