Two men arrested in Aligarh for illegally transporting 24 calves in vehicle

Two men were arrested in Aligarh late Sunday night after local residents intercepted a vehicle illegally transporting 24 calves and alerted the police. The incident took place around 9:30 pm in the Rorawer police station area when Praveen Kumar and Sudhir Thakur, both residents of village Jophri in Aligarh, stopped a Maxi on suspicion of cattle being transported unlawfully.

The two men immediately called Rorawer police to the spot. When officers inspected the vehicle, they discovered 24 small calves crammed inside in poor conditions. The animals were being transported illegally, prompting swift police action. Based on a complaint filed by Praveen Kumar, authorities registered a case and arrested the two occupants of the vehicle, identified as Dilshad, son of Dumi, and Ikram, son of Babu, both residents of village Rohda Mirpur in the Arniya police station area of Bulandshahr district.

Sudhir Thakur praised the prompt response of the police, saying their quick action saved the lives of the animals that had been packed tightly in the vehicle. The condition of the calves suggested they were being transported without regard for their welfare or legal requirements.

The arrests highlight ongoing concerns about illegal cattle transportation in the region. Police have launched an investigation into the matter to determine the intended destination of the animals and whether a larger network is involved in such activities. The seized animals have been taken into custody, and further legal proceedings against the accused are underway. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to cracking down on illegal animal transport and ensuring violators face strict action under the law.
