Tata Power, BPCL sign MoU for ₹250 crore Mumbai refinery power project
Tata Power and BPCL will develop 110 kV power infrastructure for BPCL’s Mumbai refinery PRFCCU project, meeting its 90 MW requirement.
Tata Power Company Ltd. and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (BPCL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop 110 kV power infrastructure for BPCL’s Petro Resid Fluidised Catalytic Cracking Unit (PRFCCU) project at its Mumbai refinery.
The proposed infrastructure involves an investment of around ₹250 crore and will meet the PRFCCU project’s 90 MW power requirement, Tata Power said in a statement.
Power infrastructure for PRFCCU
Under the MoU, Tata Power will provide 110 kV connectivity and undertake the design and development of the associated power infrastructure required for the project.
The PRFCCU project has a processing capacity of 3 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA) and an estimated project outlay of approximately ₹14,203 crore.
It is BPCL’s second-largest project currently under execution and the largest project ever undertaken at the Mumbai refinery, according to the source.
The power infrastructure is being developed to support the unit’s stated requirement as BPCL executes the refinery project.
Completion timeline and investment
The infrastructure development is envisaged to be completed over approximately 24 months.
The combined estimated outlay for Tata Power and BPCL is about ₹250 crore, subject to applicable approvals and project milestones.
The MoU therefore covers both the 110 kV connection and the related design and development work needed for the PRFCCU project’s power supply.
The project’s completion timeline and investment remain subject to the approvals and milestones specified in the agreement.
