Retired Major General urges students to develop AI and soft skills for modern careers

A workshop on modern education and employment opportunities was organized for students and teachers at Holy Child Public Inter College in Jadauda, Muzaffarnagar. Retired Major General Dr. Pramod Sahgal was the chief guest who addressed both sessions, providing crucial insights on changing career prospects and contemporary teaching methodologies.

The workshop was conducted in two sessions. The first session focused on "Best Employment Opportunities in India" for students, while the second session addressed "Expectations from Teachers in Today's Changing Environment." The program commenced with lamp lighting by guests and school staff.

Addressing the students, Major General Dr. Sahgal emphasized that merely obtaining a degree is insufficient in today's competitive era. He stressed that students must develop skills in computers, artificial intelligence, modern technology, communication, soft skills, and problem-solving abilities. He highlighted employment and self-employment prospects in diverse sectors including the food industry, defense and security, energy, and modern agriculture. He urged students to prepare not just for finding jobs but also for research, innovation, and creating new opportunities, stating that developing industry-relevant skills and continuous learning are essential requirements of modern times.

In the second session, Major General Sahgal told teachers that they serve not merely as instructors but as role models for students. He explained that a teacher's attire, behavior, confidence, body language, and emotional intelligence deeply impact students. He called upon teachers to create a dialogic environment with students and provide appropriate guidance by understanding their personal and academic problems. He stressed that teaching must be made simple, interesting, practical, and activity-based, adding that teachers should continuously update their skills and knowledge.

The workshop concluded with the school honoring the chief guest and other dignitaries with shawls and mementos. Principal Pravendra Dahiya expressed gratitude to all participants, noting that such workshops play a vital role in preparing students and teachers for contemporary challenges.
