Ratlam Youth Shot in Back; Police Suspect Attack Linked to Love Marriage

A youth was shot at by bike-borne assailants in Ratlam on Monday night while he was returning home from the railway station. The bullet hit Sunil Prajapat in the back, leaving him injured. The incident triggered panic in the area, following which police reached the spot and took the injured youth to a hospital.

According to the information available, the firing took place between around 9 and 9:30 pm. Sunil Prajapat was on his way home from the railway station when the attackers riding a bike opened fire at him. After being hit by the bullet, he fell down and was injured.

The assailants fled from the spot after the firing. Police were informed about the incident and reached the location to begin an investigation. During the inspection of the crime scene, police recovered one empty cartridge shell.

Police are now trying to identify the attackers and establish the reason behind the firing. The investigation is also focused on the circumstances surrounding the attack on Sunil Prajapat.

It is being reported that Sunil had entered into a love marriage around three months ago. In view of this, police suspect that the incident could be linked to a family dispute.

There is also suspicion that Sunil’s wife’s father may have got the firing carried out. However, this suspicion has not been officially confirmed. Police have not yet established who carried out the attack or what exactly led to the firing.

The police investigation is continuing, and the actual reason behind the incident is expected to become clear only after further inquiry.
