Pregnant woman dies at UP hospital after delayed treatment, family alleges negligence

A pregnant woman died at the district hospital in Mau, Uttar Pradesh, triggering serious questions about the facility's treatment protocols and medical care standards. The deceased, identified as Nisha, was admitted for delivery but her condition deteriorated progressively without receiving timely medical intervention, according to her family. Following the death, relatives staged a protest at the hospital premises, accusing doctors and hospital administration of negligence and demanding strict action.

Manjeet Gautam, a resident of Khalishpur under Sarai Lakhani police station area, reported that his wife Nisha had been admitted to the women's district hospital after experiencing labor pain. Family members allege that despite her worsening condition after admission, she did not receive the expected treatment in time and died before delivery. City police station officers reached the hospital after being informed of the commotion and brought the situation under control. A complaint has been lodged at the city police station by Pramod, the deceased's brother-in-law and a PRD personnel, against the concerned doctor.

Viral videos and social media posts related to the incident include allegations from the family that senior doctors were absent on a holiday and nursing staff procured several injections from outside without proper medical consultation. According to the viral claim, six injections were obtained and four of them were administered to the patient.

Taking the matter seriously, Chief Medical Superintendent of the women's district hospital, Dr. Neeresh Srivastava, has constituted a three-member inquiry committee. The hospital administration has initiated an investigation into the entire sequence of events. The case has raised concerns about the availability of senior medical staff during holidays and the adherence to standard treatment protocols at government health facilities. The incident has once again brought into focus the state of healthcare infrastructure and emergency medical services in Uttar Pradesh's district-level hospitals.
