According to police records, the incident occurred on August 21 when Mohammad Sadab was traveling to Pratapgarh for a court hearing related to a case. Near Ganaidih village, occupants of a red Swift car allegedly overtook him and forced him to stop. After hurling abuses, the accused reportedly opened fire with intent to kill. When Sadab fell while attempting to escape, the attackers mercilessly beat him with sticks and wooden planks, leaving him critically injured.
A case was registered at Dilippur police station under crime number 189/2026 invoking relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The arrest was made as part of an ongoing campaign to apprehend wanted criminals being conducted under the supervision of Pratapgarh Superintendent of Police Deepak Bhukar. Additional SP East Alok Kumar and Circle Officer Patti Pradeep Singh oversaw the operation, which was led by Inspector-in-Charge Vijay Kant Satyarthi.
