Police arrest 62-year-old man in year-old murder attempt case in Pratapgarh

Police in Pratapgarh district have arrested a 62-year-old wanted accused in connection with a brutal assault and murder attempt case that took place last year. Nawab Ali alias Fullan was apprehended near Chaupai Pul by officers from Dilippur police station, who also recovered crucial evidence including two wooden planks used in the attack and a 315 bore empty cartridge from the crime scene.

According to police records, the incident occurred on August 21 when Mohammad Sadab was traveling to Pratapgarh for a court hearing related to a case. Near Ganaidih village, occupants of a red Swift car allegedly overtook him and forced him to stop. After hurling abuses, the accused reportedly opened fire with intent to kill. When Sadab fell while attempting to escape, the attackers mercilessly beat him with sticks and wooden planks, leaving him critically injured.

A case was registered at Dilippur police station under crime number 189/2026 invoking relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The arrest was made as part of an ongoing campaign to apprehend wanted criminals being conducted under the supervision of Pratapgarh Superintendent of Police Deepak Bhukar. Additional SP East Alok Kumar and Circle Officer Patti Pradeep Singh oversaw the operation, which was led by Inspector-in-Charge Vijay Kant Satyarthi.

The arrested accused, identified as Nawab Ali alias Fullan, son of Jameel and a resident of Yahiyapur in Dilippur police station area, has a criminal history. Police records show he was previously booked in 2017 at Kandhai police station in a separate case involving attempted murder and other charges. The arrest team comprised Sub-Inspector Devendra Kumar Pathak, Constable Ashish Kumar, and Reserve Constable Avneesh Kumar.
