Residents of Gram Faridpur Khas in Chandausi are facing serious problems because of overflowing sewage, accumulated garbage and waterlogging.
Residents of Gram Faridpur Khas in Chandausi are facing serious problems because of overflowing sewage, accumulated garbage and waterlogging. The sanitation system in the village, located in Baniyakheda Block, appears to have completely collapsed, according to a report by Rajat Malhotra.
For the past several days, dirty water and mud have filled the village’s main lane, making daily life difficult for residents. The drains are blocked, and the wastewater from them is flowing onto the road. The lane, which should be used as a passage, has effectively turned into a dirty drain.
Photographs show the entire lane covered with black, foul-smelling water, garbage and mud. Plastic waste, rubbish and other dirt can also be seen floating at several places. Residents are finding it difficult to leave their homes, while children and elderly people are facing the greatest inconvenience.
The situation has also exposed the claims of development in the area. The damaged drains and brick-paved road, along with the stagnant wastewater in front of houses, have raised serious questions about the sanitation arrangements in the village. The condition is also being described as a setback to the Swachh Bharat campaign and a mockery of the Swachh Bharat Mission.
Residents said they had complained several times to the village head and Block officials, but no action had been taken so far. Neither have the drains been cleaned nor has any arrangement been made for water drainage.
People are being forced to live amid black, foul-smelling water and heaps of garbage. Residents have now urged the district administration to arrange cleaning at the earliest and restore the water-drainage system. They also want the blocked drains and the waterlogged main lane to be cleared so that movement through the village can resume.
