Only Three Individuals Under Observation for Nipah Virus in Kozhikode

Only three individuals linked to a Nipah virus case in Kozhikode are currently under observation at the Government Medical College Hospital, according to a statement from Kerala health Health Minister K. Muraleedharan’s office on Thursday, June 18. This comes after one more person was discharged following negative test results and the resolution of symptoms.

Out of the nine people identified as close contacts of the infected patient, six have now been discharged. The health department confirmed that there have been no new additions to the contact list. Meanwhile, the infected patient remains on ventilator support.

The Nipah virus case had raised concerns in the region, prompting health authorities to closely monitor all potential contacts. The swift discharge of six individuals and the containment of the contact list are being viewed as positive developments in managing the outbreak.

The state health department continues to maintain strict surveillance and precautionary measures to prevent further spread of the virus. Residents are being urged to follow health advisories and report any symptoms immediately.
