Vivek Trivedi reports from Kanpur Dehat that the Nayak community has raised a demand for greater political participation along with social uplift. The demand was made at a social uplift and development seminar held in Jagammanpur village, where members of the community spoke about education, awareness and political representation.

Office-bearers of Nayak community organisations from Kanpur Dehat, Etawah and Auraiya attended the programme. The event focused on the need to strengthen the community through education and awareness, while also ensuring that it has a stronger voice in political matters.

The pictures are from Jagammanpur village in Kanpur Dehat, where the Nayak community organisation held the social uplift and development seminar. The programme was organised by the village head. A large number of Nayak community women and men took part in the event.

After the welcome ceremony, Kundan Singh Nayak, the Kanpur Dehat district president, addressed members of the community. He gave a message focused on education, awareness and unity.

Speaking to the media, Kundan Singh Nayak said that the Nayak community uses its voting rights and plays a role in forming the government. However, he said that despite this role, the community remains away from adequate political representation in the government.

He demanded that the Nayak community should also have a representative in the government who can put forward its views. According to him, such representation would help take the problems of the community to the government.

Kundan Singh Nayak also said that the organisation has been expanded in Etawah and Auraiya along with Kanpur Dehat. He said preparations are now under way to expand the organisation to Kannauj and across Uttar Pradesh.

The organisation wants to strengthen the political share and participation of the Nayak community through this expansion. The initiative began with a focus on social uplift, education and awareness, but the community has now also placed political representation at the centre of its demand.

It remains to be seen how far this initiative by the Nayak community, which began with the issue of social uplift, can take forward its demand for political representation.
