Muzzaffarnagar journalists demand probe into Delhi Police mistreatment allegations

Journalists in Muzzaffarnagar have demanded an impartial inquiry into the alleged mistreatment of journalists Shahid Khan and Nafisa Khan by Delhi Police, claiming violations of press freedom and constitutional rights.

A case has emerged involving alleged misbehaviour, mistreatment and violation of the right to freedom of journalism with journalists Shahid Khan and Nafisa Khan by Delhi Police. Memoranda have been sent to the District Magistrate Muzzaffarnagar and the President of India seeking an impartial investigation and action against the guilty police personnel.

The memorandum states that journalism is an important pillar of democracy and journalists have the right under the Constitution and law to discharge their duties independently and fearlessly. It is alleged that Delhi Police behaved inappropriately with journalists Shahid Khan and Nafisa Khan, making an impartial and independent inquiry into the entire matter extremely necessary.

The journalists have demanded that an impartial investigation be conducted into the alleged incident with Shahid Khan and Nafisa Khan, and if any police officer or personnel is found to have violated rules or human rights, strict action should be taken against them according to law. The journalists have also said that protecting the freedom and dignity of journalists is essential for the democratic system.

Journalists from Muzzaffarnagar have demanded that the administration take serious cognizance of the matter and take necessary action.
