Muzaffarnagar residents demand probe after shisham trees felled in government orchard

Local residents in Muzaffarnagar are angry over the cutting of green shisham trees in a government orchard located behind Kashipuram Colony. Residents of the colony reached the District Magistrate's office on Saturday and handed over a memorandum to City Magistrate Pankaj Rathour, demanding an investigation into the entire matter and action against the culprits.

According to local people, two green shisham trees were cut from the government orchard in recent days. A video of the trees being cut also went viral on social media.

Local residents have accused Dinesh, who lives in the same colony, along with other people of having the trees cut. However, these allegations have not been officially confirmed yet.

City Magistrate Pankaj Rathour told the media that the matter has been taken cognizance of and the entire case is being investigated. Whoever is found guilty in the investigation will face strict legal action as per rules.

It remains to be seen whose responsibility will be fixed in the case of cutting government trees after the investigation and what action will be taken by the administration.
