Muzaffarnagar police arrest two in murder case, recover missing youth's body

Khathauli police in Muzaffarnagar district have cracked a murder case and arrested two suspects. The joint team of Khathauli police station and SOG recovered the body of missing youth Atul, son of Santpal, resident of village Bhainsi under Khathauli police station, based on information provided by the accused. Police have also recovered a motorcycle along with items used in the murder.

Family members had reported Atul's disappearance to Khathauli police on 29 August 2026. Following the complaint, police launched a search operation. During investigation, police obtained some crucial leads based on which they arrested Sonu, son of Ajaypal, aged around 19 years, and Talib, son of Dilshad, aged around 22 years, both residents of village Bhainsi.

According to police, Atul's body was recovered based on interrogation and identification by the accused. A knife used in the murder and a motorcycle have also been seized. The investigation has revealed that the accused attempted to destroy evidence after the incident.

Police have registered case number 291/2026 against both accused under sections 140(1), 103(1), 238, 5(5) BNS and 3(2)(V) SC/ST Act. Further legal proceedings in the matter are underway by police.
