Motorcycle collides with truck on Lucknow-Varanasi highway, one dead

A motorcycle collided with a truck from behind on the Lucknow-Varanasi highway near Khajuri village in the Lalganj police station area on Wednesday evening, killing one person and leaving two others seriously injured. The accident occurred around seven in the evening.

Udaybhan Kori, 28, a resident of Usarapatti village in the Sangipur police station area, had gone to visit Mangarh on a motorcycle with Sagar Kori, 28, from his village, and Vijay Saroj, 20, from Pahadpur. All three were returning home around seven in the evening when the motorcycle suddenly went out of control near Khajuri village and rammed into the rear of a truck moving ahead. The impact was so severe that all three fell on the road and were grievously injured.

Lalganj police station officers reached the spot as soon as they received information about the accident. Station House Officer Alok Kumar immediately rushed the injured to Lalganj Trauma Centre. Doctors there declared Udaybhan Kori dead. Sagar and Vijay, who were in critical condition, were referred to the district hospital.

Udaybhan was the sole support of his family. His father Jagdish works as a labourer at a brick kiln. Udaybhan too earned through labour work and supported the family. Family members rushed to the trauma centre weeping and wailing when they heard about the accident. His wife Maya and children Arya, Aarti and Surya were inconsolable.

Police have impounded the truck involved in the accident. Station House Officer Alok Kumar said the body is being sent for post-mortem. Action will be taken as per rules after receiving a complaint.
