Migrant worker stabbed to death over chicken pieces at party in Karnataka

A 25-year-old migrant worker was stabbed to death by his colleague during a party in Karnataka's Belagavi district after a trivial argument over chicken pieces escalated into a deadly confrontation.

The victim has been identified as Sitaram, a native of Kabirganj village in Pilibhit district of Uttar Pradesh. He was working at Priya Steel Company in Muddalagi taluk along with the accused Arun Kumar, who also hails from the same village in Uttar Pradesh. The incident took place in Hanashyal PG village under Muddalagi taluk jurisdiction.

According to police, both friends were partying together when a dispute broke out over chicken pieces kept on a plate. Arun Kumar allegedly accused Sitaram of eating more chicken pieces than him. The petty squabble quickly spiraled out of control and in a fit of rage, Arun pulled out a knife and stabbed Sitaram in the chest.

After the attack, Arun attempted to cover up the crime by rushing the critically injured Sitaram to Gokak government hospital. He lied to doctors, claiming that his friend had sustained injuries after falling from a building. However, hospital authorities and police became suspicious of his version of events.

When police arrived at the scene and took Arun into custody for questioning, he eventually confessed to the crime under intense interrogation. Meanwhile, Sitaram succumbed to his injuries during treatment at the hospital.

Police have registered a murder case and initiated legal proceedings against the accused. The shocking incident highlights how a trivial disagreement between friends turned fatal, leaving one family devastated and another young man facing serious criminal charges.
