Manjhavali villagers protest neglect of sanitation, infrastructure development work

Residents of Manjhavali village in the Baniyakhera development block of Chandausi staged a protest at the block office over accumulating garbage, waterlogging, and the alleged failure of local authorities to carry out essential development work in their village. A large number of villagers marched to the block development office and submitted a memorandum to the Block Development Officer demanding immediate action to resolve their grievances.

The villagers accused the gram pradhan and the village secretary of neglecting their duties, resulting in the collapse of the sanitation system in the village. Heaps of garbage have piled up at several locations due to the lack of regular cleaning, they said. After rains, mud accumulates on the roads, making it extremely difficult for residents to move around. The villagers also complained that waterlogging has become a persistent problem and demanded a permanent solution, including the cleaning of drains.

The protesters further alleged that the authorities responsible for development work have not been paying adequate attention to projects in the village. They said that expected development activities have not been undertaken, leaving the village infrastructure in poor shape.

The demonstration took place outside the development block office, where villagers raised slogans and presented their demands. In their memorandum to the Block Development Officer, the residents called for an inspection of the village, immediate steps to restore the sanitation system, and the acceleration of pending development projects.

During the protest, villagers warned that if their problems are not resolved soon, they will be forced to continue their agitation. They emphasized that the situation has become unbearable and demanded swift intervention by the administration.

Officials at the block office assured the villagers that their grievances would be addressed. However, the residents made it clear that they expect concrete action, not just promises.

A significant number of villagers participated in the protest. Among those present were Rajpal Singh, Chandrapal Singh, Nanhe, Prempal, Parshuram, Jograj Singh, Mahendra Singh, Neeraj, Anekpal Singh, Ghanshyam, Sonu, Mohanlal, Premwati, Morwati, Hirawati, Munni, Urmila, Sunita, Nanhi, Phoolwati, and Shanti, along with many other women and men from the village.

The protest highlights the growing frustration among rural communities over inadequate civic services and the lack of accountability among local representatives. The villagers have made it clear that they will not tolerate further neglect and are prepared to intensify their movement if necessary.
