Lodha firing case: Accused arrested with licensed gun, police say

Lodha police say they have arrested Baldev Singh Rana in connection with a firing case near Atalpur village. According to police, a licensed 12-bore gun, one live cartridge and one spent shell were recovered from his possession. Arms Act provisions have now been added to the case, and the accused was sent to jail after being produced before a court.

Complaint filed after July 27 incident

The case was registered after Tek Singh Rana, a Lodha resident currently living in Swarn Jayanti Nagar, submitted a complaint at Lodha police station. He told police that his son, Vivek Rana, had gone to an under-construction colony near Atalpur on July 27.

According to the complaint, Vivek had an argument with Baldev Singh Rana over an old family dispute. It alleges that Baldev called his father, Pratap Singh Rana, to the spot and that a licensed gun was then fired at Vivek with the intention of killing him. Vivek escaped without being hit, the complainant said.

Car damaged, Arms Act sections added

The complaint further states that bricks and stones were thrown at Vivek's Baleno car, breaking its windows and damaging the vehicle. When a Dial-112 police team reached the spot, the accused allegedly fled while threatening to kill him.

Police opened an investigation after registering the complaint. On Wednesday, officers arrested Baldev Singh Rana and said they recovered the licensed gun and ammunition linked to the incident. Based on the recovery, Arms Act sections were added to the case. The allegations remain part of the police case and will be tested through the legal process.
