Land dispute turns violent in Raibareli, 17 injured in clashes

A violent clash erupted between two groups over land possession in Khaapur Khapura village under Lalganj police station area of Raibareli, leaving 17 people seriously injured, including both men and women.

All the injured were rushed to the nearby CHC hospital for treatment, where doctors provided primary medical care to everyone. Ten people have been sent to the district hospital for further treatment. Police reached the spot after receiving information and have launched an investigation into the matter.

It is being reported that a dispute has been ongoing for a long time between the two parties over land bearing Gata number 156 in Khaapur Khapura village. One party began cleaning the disputed land using a JCB machine, which was opposed by the other side. An argument broke out between the two groups over this issue. Within moments, the situation escalated and people from both sides started attacking each other with sticks and axes.

In the violence, Omprakash, Neetu, Sangeeta, Mithun, Jitendra, Aman and Janak Dulari were injured from one side. Omprakash said that they were getting their land cleaned on the instructions of the revenue team. The people from the other party attacked them over this matter.

From the other side, Dhunn​ilal, Kalawati, Sarwan, Vimal, Sushil Yadav, Suraj Singh, Sunil Yadav, Rajendra and Kanti Devi were injured. Dhunn​ilal's party claimed that they have been in possession of the disputed land for years. The land matter is pending in court. Despite this, people from the other party had come to forcibly occupy the land.

Police who arrived after receiving information transported all the injured to the CHC. The arrival of a large number of injured people at once created chaos in the hospital premises. A heavy deployment of police personnel was present at the hospital, and Inspector In-charge Pramod Kumar Singh calmed both parties by counselling them.

The incident highlights the simmering tension over the disputed property, with both sides presenting conflicting claims about rightful possession while the matter remains under judicial consideration.
