Following this, Kalyan criticized Abhishek, saying he does not respect senior leaders and is arrogant, which he claimed has harmed the party.

On Friday, Abhishek Banerjee responded, acknowledging Kalyan Banerjee as his elder and stating that he has the right to express his views. Abhishek added that he would not speak against Kalyan, as he has known him since childhood.

Kalyan Banerjee also commented on the state of democracy in West Bengal, claiming it has deteriorated. He alleged that BJP and police harassment have created unprecedented challenges for the opposition. He dismissed rumors of a merger between TMC and Congress, stating that no such plans exist.

Banerjee further criticized rebel leaders within TMC, accusing them of using development as an excuse while failing to deliver in their constituencies. He warned that these rebels might seek refuge with BJP.
