Jitendra Gupta's defection to SP sparks BJP-Samajwadi Party row in Shravasti

A fierce political row has erupted in Shravasti after Jitendra Gupta joined the Samajwadi Party, with the Bharatiya Janata Party now launching a sharp counterattack against SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and demanding an apology over what it calls factually incorrect statements.

BJP district president Professor Mishrilal Verma has questioned Akhilesh Yadav's statement on the matter, saying the SP chief should get his facts right. Verma claimed that Jitendra Gupta, also known as Guddu, was expelled by the BJP in 2023 itself for six years on charges of indiscipline and anti-party activities.

According to the BJP district president, after his expulsion Jitendra Gupta joined the Congress and later became part of the Samajwadi Party on 19 September in the presence of Akhilesh Yadav.

The political heat intensified after Jitendra Gupta's induction into the SP, with the BJP now hitting back hard. The saffron party has demanded that Akhilesh Yadav apologize for the alleged incorrect facts he presented.

The statement was made by BJP district president Professor Mishrilal Verma in a byte to the media, escalating the war of words between the two parties in Shravasti.
