Ujjain Police have arrested a 36-year-old man from Jaipur for allegedly defrauding a woman of approximately ₹1.27 crore by promising to marry her and later threatening her life when she demanded he keep his word. Manish, son of Tirthdas, a resident of Mansarovar in Jaipur, Rajasthan, was apprehended by Madhavnagar police on August 13, 2026, following a complaint filed by the victim in May. During his arrest, police recovered cash, two expensive mobile phones, and high-value items purchased through online shopping.

According to the complaint lodged at Madhavnagar police station on May 13, 2026, the accused had been in contact with the Ujjain-based woman since March 2025. Manish allegedly deceived her with marriage promises and exploited her trust to extract money in multiple transactions totaling around ₹1.27 crore. When the woman insisted on marriage in March 2026, the accused refused and issued death threats. A case was registered under sections 351(3) and 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Police investigations revealed that Manish maintained an expensive lifestyle and frequently changed his residence, renting rooms at different locations. His modus operandi involved befriending women, gaining their trust with marriage proposals, and then swindling money from them. Preliminary interrogation indicated he had obtained approximately ₹35 lakh from the complainant. Authorities are now investigating whether he has duped other women using similar tactics.

The arrest was made under the guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police West Guruprasad Parashar and City Superintendent of Police Madhavnagar Deepika Shinde. Following his arrest, Manish was presented before court, and police obtained custody for detailed questioning and recovery of evidence. The police team involved in the operation included Inspector Gajendra Pachoriya, Sub-Inspector Anjali Rajput, Sub-Inspector Prateek Yadav from the cyber cell, and several other personnel who played crucial roles in cracking the case. Investigations continue to determine if there are additional victims.
