High Court launches mediation drive to resolve pending court cases faster

A comprehensive mediation campaign aimed at resolving long-pending disputes through dialogue was launched in Pratapgarh district under the joint leadership of the High Court Mediation and Conciliation Centre and the District Legal Services Authority.

District Judge Rajeev Kamal Pandey and Shambhavi, Civil Judge Senior Division and Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, flagged off an interceptor vehicle for publicity and awareness of the campaign. The primary objective of this initiative is to expedite the resolution of cases pending in courts through mutual consent and dialogue.

Under this mediation drive, a wide range of disputes can be settled, including matrimonial disputes, accident claims, domestic violence cases, cheque bounce matters, commercial and service disputes, compoundable criminal cases, consumer disputes, debt recovery, partition cases, eviction matters and land acquisition issues.

Civil Judge Shambhavi, from the District Legal Services Authority, explained that parties involved in pending cases can request the concerned court to refer their matters to mediation. For cases at tehsil and district level, mediation proceedings will be conducted at the authority on all seven days of the week. This process will be facilitated by trained mediators through both online and offline modes.

Upon successful mediation, the settlement reached with the consent of both parties will be presented to the court for final disposal of the suit. The campaign represents a sustained effort to reduce the burden of pending litigation by encouraging amicable resolution of disputes outside the traditional courtroom process.
