Heavy rainfall submerges homes in Shravasti, families flee waterlogged neighborhoods

Heavy rainfall has triggered a severe flooding crisis in Shravasti district, with over a dozen homes submerged in the Gilaula area behind the old mosque. Water levels have risen to waist height inside houses, trapping residents and forcing several families to abandon their homes altogether.

The absence of any proper drainage system has left people struggling to cope with nightmarish living conditions. Residents are finding it extremely difficult to step out of their homes as floodwater continues to accumulate in the low-lying neighborhood. Families with young children are facing particularly acute hardship, with everyday activities becoming nearly impossible in the waterlogged conditions.

Multiple families have been compelled to evacuate their homes as water continues to pour inside, damaging property and household belongings. The situation has created widespread panic among local residents who now fear the outbreak of waterborne diseases and potential accidents, especially involving children and elderly family members.

Desperate residents have appealed to the district administration for immediate assistance and relief measures. Local people are demanding urgent water drainage operations to clear the flooded areas and have also called for a permanent solution to prevent such disasters in the future. They have highlighted the complete lack of drainage infrastructure as the root cause of their suffering, pointing out that even moderate rainfall turns their lives upside down.

The flooding incident has once again exposed the inadequate civic infrastructure in the area, with residents questioning why basic drainage facilities have not been provided despite repeated complaints during previous monsoon seasons.
