The Special Intensive Revision-2027 of the electoral roll will begin on 12 November 2026, with the administration focusing on adding the names of eligible young people, women and other eligible citizens who may have been left out. The final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on 4 January 2027.
A meeting on the revision exercise was held on Monday at the office of the District Magistrate in the Collectorate in Hathras. The meeting was chaired by District Magistrate and District Election Officer Satya Prakash Patel. Representatives of recognised national and state-level political parties, along with the concerned officials, took part in the meeting.
The meeting stressed the need to make the electoral roll error-free, transparent and impartial. It also focused on ensuring that the names of the maximum possible number of eligible citizens are included in the roll.
Satya Prakash Patel directed the officers and employees to complete all work related to the revision within the prescribed time and according to the rules set by the Election Commission of India. He said that no eligible citizen should be left out of the electoral roll.
He gave special instructions for taking effective steps to include the names of young people who have completed 18 years of age in the electoral roll. He also directed officials to give priority to adding the names of women voters and other eligible citizens whose names have not yet been included. The move is also intended to help improve the gender ratio in the district.
The District Magistrate said that support should be taken from employees working at the Gram Panchayat level to help include new names in the electoral roll. He also directed officials to organise special camps in degree colleges.
These camps will be used to create awareness among young people about voter registration. The aim is to ensure that eligible students can easily register their names in the electoral roll.
Along with adding the names of eligible people, officials were also directed to take action to remove the names of ineligible persons. The action must be taken according to the prescribed rules and procedure.
The concerned Sub-Divisional Magistrates were asked to ensure the required inquiry and action in such cases. The instructions were issued to keep the possibility of errors in the electoral roll to a minimum.
The District Magistrate also appealed to representatives of political parties to update the list of their respective Booth Level Agents, or BLAs, and provide it to the District Election Office at the earliest. He said that the active participation of political parties was important for the electoral roll revision process.
He assured the representatives that the entire process would be conducted impartially and transparently, in accordance with the rules prescribed by the Election Commission. He also instructed officials to complete all necessary preparations before the revision campaign begins on 12 November 2026.
The District Election Officer informed the meeting about the schedule fixed for the Special Intensive Revision-2027. The rationalisation and rearrangement of polling centres will be completed by 2 November 2026.
The publication of the integrated draft electoral roll will take place on 12 November 2026. After that, claims and objections can be submitted from 12 November to 11 December 2026.
The claims and objections received during this period will be disposed of by 28 December 2026. The publication of the final electoral roll has been scheduled for 4 January 2027.
During the special revision campaign, Booth Level Officers, or BLOs, will remain present at their respective polling locations according to the prescribed schedule. They will provide the necessary assistance to citizens.
Applications can be submitted through Form-6 to add a new name to the electoral roll. Form-7 can be used to request the removal of a name, while Form-8 can be used to seek corrections in voter details.
Citizens can also submit applications online through the official Election Commission of India portal, voters.eci.gov.in.
Satya Prakash Patel appealed to the general public to check the electoral roll according to the prescribed schedule. He asked citizens to submit the required application within the specified period if their name is not included in the roll or if there is any error in their details.
He also called upon all officers, employees and representatives of political parties to work in coordination. The administration said that such coordination would help ensure the inclusion of the names of the maximum possible number of eligible citizens in the electoral roll.
District Media In-Charge Sunil Verma (Advocate), District General Secretary Rajendra Kumar Maheshwari, Samajwadi Party District President Devendra Kushwaha and Vice-President Ajay Sikarkar, Congress District President Vivek Upadhyay, Bahujan Samaj Party District President Rajkapoor, CPI (M) District Secretary Shyam Singh Verma, Aam Aadmi Party Vice-President Rahmat Ali and Apna Dal (S) representative Jamuna Prasad were among those present at the meeting.
