A woman from Gwalior who disappeared after leaving her husband outside a zoo and sitting on another motorcycle has returned after 20 days. During police questioning, she said she had not run away with anyone. Her explanation was: “भागी नहीं थी, रास्ता भटक गई थी”. She told police that she had taken a lift from the motorcycle rider, got off in the Motijheel area of Bahodapur and later lost her way. She said she then began living in a hut.

The woman has been identified as Suhana Rajak, the wife of Karan Rajak, who is a resident of Shivpuri. The incident took place after the couple came to Gwalior on 6 October. Suhana had expressed a desire to visit Gandhi Prani Udyan, also known as the zoo, and Karan took her there on a motorcycle.

According to the details available, the entire sequence outside the zoo changed within 26 seconds. At 3 hours, 9 minutes and 29 seconds in the afternoon, Suhana asked Karan to park the motorcycle. Karan went to park it. When he returned, just 26 seconds later, Suhana was no longer there.

Karan searched the area around the zoo but could not find his wife. He also tried calling her several times, but her mobile phone was switched off. After she could not be located, he contacted her family members, relatives and his own family. When no information was received from anywhere, the matter was reported to the Padav police station.

Police then examined footage from CCTV cameras installed around the zoo. The footage showed Karan leaving with his motorcycle to park it. Soon afterwards, another motorcycle was seen arriving quickly near the spot. Suhana was seen running towards that motorcycle and sitting on it. The motorcycle rider then left the area with her.

The CCTV footage gave a new turn to the case of Suhana’s sudden disappearance. A missing-person report was registered, and police began searching for her. The search continued for about 20 days, after which Suhana returned.

Police questioned her after she came back. During questioning, she said she had not fled with the motorcycle rider. She said she had taken a lift from him. According to her account, the rider dropped her in the Motijheel area of Bahodapur and left. She then lost her way and began staying in a hut.

Police are investigating the complete sequence on the basis of her statement, including the footage showing her sitting on another motorcycle outside the zoo and her absence from home for 20 days. The account given by Suhana is being examined along with the facts that have emerged so far.

Questions have also arisen about where she will stay and what arrangements will be made for her safety after her return. According to the information available, Suhana has not expressed a desire to go with her husband. She has also not accepted that she wants to go with any boyfriend.

Police are preparing to send her to Nari Niketan. However, the further arrangement will be decided after she is presented before the court and after the relevant facts are considered. The police have recorded her statements in connection with the missing-person report filed at Padav police station.

CSP Robin Jain said that the woman had returned on her own. He said that since a missing-person report had been registered at Padav police station, her statements were recorded. According to Suhana, she had gone after taking a lift. Robin Jain said she would now be presented before the court and that further action would be taken on the basis of her statements and the facts that had come to light.

The case began when Karan went to park the motorcycle after arriving at the zoo with Suhana. Within 26 seconds, she was seen leaving on another motorcycle. She returned only after 20 days and told police that she had not run away, but had lost her way after taking a lift.

Police are now looking into the circumstances in which she left the zoo, reached the Motijheel area, stayed in a hut and eventually returned. The statements to be recorded before the court and the findings of the ongoing investigation are expected to clarify the sequence further.
