Ghaziabad police arrest two suspects after shootout during anti-crime operation

Police in Ghaziabad arrested two suspected criminals after a late-night encounter following a tip-off about a planned crime. The incident took place when a SWAT and surveillance team from Nagar Zone and Sihani Gate police station were conducting checks based on information from an informer about suspects in a three-wheeled auto planning to commit a crime.

When police signaled a suspicious auto to stop, the occupants attempted to flee. They abandoned the vehicle and opened fire at the police team with the intent to kill. In retaliatory self-defense firing, two suspects were injured in their legs while two others managed to escape under the cover of darkness. The injured suspects identified themselves as Shakir and Pawan.

During interrogation, both accused confessed to committing multiple snatching incidents in the past. Police records confirm they have previous criminal histories. The police team recovered two illegal country-made pistols, live cartridges, empty cartridge shells, two pairs of ear tops, and the tempo used in their criminal activities.

The wounded suspects have been sent to hospital for medical treatment. Police have registered a case and further legal proceedings are underway. Authorities are now searching for the two absconding suspects who fled from the scene. The successful operation has brought relief to residents who have been victims of snatching incidents in the area, and police are investigating links to other unsolved cases in the region.
