The Food Safety and Drug Administration Department in Muzzafarnagar district has intensified its crackdown on food adulteration ahead of the upcoming Rakshabandhan and Janmashtami festivals. In a major operation, Assistant Commissioner Food-II Archana Dheeran led a surprise raid on Akbar Milk Chilling Center, collecting 10 legal samples for testing and destroying approximately 200 liters of adulterated milk worth around 6,000 rupees found unfit for human consumption on the spot.

The raid was conducted under orders from the Commissioner of Food Safety and Drug Administration, Uttar Pradesh, and directives from the District Magistrate. During the inspection, the team discovered suspicious activities including the preparation of solutions by mixing Skimmed Milk Powder (SMP) with other substances. The samples collected included separated milk, suspicious white solution, two samples of mixed milk, cow milk, SMP, suspected caustic soda, transparent liquid, cow ghee, and cream. All samples have been sent to the food analyst laboratory for expedited testing.

The enforcement team seized substantial quantities of materials under regulations, including approximately 14,500 liters of milk, 235 kilograms of SMP, 10 kilograms of ghee, 70 kilograms of cream, 10 kilograms of caustic soda, and 48 liters of transparent liquid, with an estimated total value of around 10 lakh rupees. The seized materials were handed over to the custody of the food business operator. An FIR has been lodged against the business operator at the relevant police station under appropriate sections, and the establishment's operations have been completely shut down.

The license suspension process will be completed subsequently. Assistant Commissioner Archana Dheeran's decisive action sends a clear message that those who compromise public health will not be spared. Her proactive approach during the festive season, when demand for food products increases, has created a sense of alertness among food traders. The Food Safety Department team, including officers Sandeep Singh, Vaibhav Sharma, Sunil Kumar, Dr. Ashwini Kumar, Dr. Vishal Chaudhary, and Neha Chaudhary, continues its campaign to ensure safe and quality food products for citizens.
