Father Kills Daughter Inside Police Station in Banda, UP Over Inter-Caste Marriage

In Banda, Uttar Pradesh, a 19-year-old woman named Shivani was stabbed to death by her father, Satyakumar Chauhan, inside the premises of the Badausa police station. The incident occurred on Friday after police had located Shivani and her husband Lalit Verma, who had eloped and married on May 18, and brought them back from Madhya Pradesh. The father was reportedly upset over the inter-caste marriage and societal backlash.

Police had summoned both families to the station for counseling. During a private discussion facilitated by a counselor, Satyakumar tried to persuade Shivani to leave her husband, citing societal dishonor. Shivani, however, firmly refused, stating her intention to live with Lalit. Following this, Satyakumar suddenly attacked Shivani with a knife, stabbing her multiple times in front of witnesses, including family members and police personnel.

Shivani was rushed to a community health center and later referred to Banda Medical College, where she succumbed to her injuries during treatment. Her mother, Ranno Devi, fainted at the scene after witnessing the attack. Police immediately apprehended Satyakumar and registered a case against him. Banda Superintendent of Police Palash Bansal confirmed the incident and stated that the accused is in custody.
