Farmers Union demands MSP guarantee, pension scheme, and stray animal control measures

The Bharatiya Kisan Union (Lal Bahadur Shastri) submitted a memorandum to the President through the District Magistrate in Muzaffarnagar district, demanding solutions to various problems faced by farmers and the general public.

The memorandum, submitted under the leadership of district president Chaudhary Shadab, prominently raised issues related to fair prices for farmers' crops, health services, pension, stray animals, and problems faced by cattle breeders.

The union demanded that legal guarantee be provided for procurement of all crops at Minimum Support Price (MSP) based on the C2+50 percent formula in accordance with the recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission. Along with this, a demand was made to provide free and quality health services to farmers, labourers, and common citizens.

The memorandum also demanded implementation of a dignified pension scheme of ₹5,000 per month for farmers and labourers above 60 years of age and formation of an autonomous National Farmers Commission for permanent resolution of farmers' problems.

Demands were raised for making permanent arrangements regarding the problem of stray animals damaging farmers' crops, construction of adequate cow shelters, and ensuring safety of farmers from electric wires. The memorandum also included a demand for ensuring remunerative prices for milk producers and cattle breeders in accordance with their costs and fixing the minimum price of milk at ₹60 per litre.

The Bharatiya Kisan Union (Lal Bahadur Shastri) requested the President to issue necessary instructions to the concerned ministries for action on these demands related to public interest.
